THIS IS THE LEAST YOU CAN EXPECT WHEN YOU RESIST ARREST

How are you liking 2021 so far? Does it feel good to be “woke.” If you’re like me then you are fed up with all of this shit. A couple of days ago a sixteen year old girl that was trying to kill another teenager was shot dead by a Columbus police officer that was responding to the 911 call. The officer was white while the teenage hooligan wielding a deadly weapon was black. Once again this has become a race issue instead of a behavior issue. The mother of the deceased girl says she “wants answers” why her “peaceful child is no longer with us. What the hell is wrong with people? Have we all forgotten the lesson we learned as a baby where we put our hand on a stove and figured out the meaning of “hot?” Has this new generation of social terrorists suddenly fallen susceptible to early dementia? You are never gonna end up with the key to the city if you decide to resist arrest.

You would think the White House would have the common sense to diffuse the situation but this administration does not want us to get along. Instead they fueled the chaos by calling the shooting “tragic.” Tragic? This girl wasn’t pulled out out of her house, tortured, beaten and shot she was trying to kill another human being and because of HER actions she will not be playing badminton at the family cookout this Memorial Day. That isn’t “tragic” but it was very much “preventable” and the officer was just doing his job. You may assume I am a staunch supporter of the men and women in blue but that is not accurate. I am a Libertarian and I avoid the police at all costs. I prefer to take care of my own business and safety. The few times I have made a call to the police it did not turn out as I had hoped. I suggest that you do everything you can to avoid being in their presence. If you do end up in a situation where you have to interact with law enforcement let me offer some pointers on how to make sure that you do not suddenly assume room temperature.

IF YOU DON’T HAVE A GED THEN GET SOMEONE TO READ THIS TO YOU

Cops make mistakes. They are humans. Innocent people do get arrested. If you find yourself in the presence of law enforcement and they tell you to do something it’s not a debate. Know the room. You are not in a position of “strength.” This is NOT the time for you to prove a point or make a statement. Shut your mouth. The more you resist then the more the situation is gonna escalate. Escalation is not a good thing. If you say nothing you will be inconvenienced but you’ll be able to walk out to the mailbox the next morning. You hire an attorney and you will have your day in court. That’s how the process has been set up and that is how the process works. Trust me…..you don’t want to be involved in “the process.” It never seems to end and it becomes quite expensive. Don’t break the law. If you don’t want people with badges inside your personal space don’t give them a reason to confront you. How did we all become so confused? What is it that no one can seem to grasp? Let’s stop pointing the finger of blame at others. You are not the “victim” when you choose to break the law. Let’s try following the law and I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised at the outcome.

fergusonI like to laugh and write about funny things.  What is happening in Ferguson, MO is not funny and has consumed me for the past week.   I am a news junkie yet I am surprised when I find out how many are not aware of the unrest and racial tension in this town of just over twenty one thousand.

Cliff note version of what happened:  Michael Brown, 18, and friend were walking in the middle of the street.  Police officer tells them to get back on sidewalk.  The story differs from here.  According to police there was a struggle for his sidearm.  According to witnesses Brown ran from officer and was shot in the back.  Autopsy results have since shown the shots entered the front of Mr. Brown but that isn’t going to bring Mr. Brown back or squelch the pain of his family.  Of course the media vultures Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton swarm on the city like vultures looking for meat.   They are not there to help.  They are there for self promotion and basically a can of kerosene introduced to a bonfire.  They say they stand for civil rights but I concur and say they wish for civil unrest.

At the beginning of this unrest Ferguson police brought in TANKS and swat vehicles and shot rubber bullets and tear gas into the crowd of demonstrators including some news crews that were only trying to do their job.  The wise move was then made by the Governor to put the State Highway Patrol in charge of security.   So who is to blame?   As usual I believe truth lies in the middle.  There were characters of ill repute that demonstrated with violence and didn’t really care about the life of Michael Brown that was lost.  I also believe there are a few police officers that view themselves as “soldiers with toys” that have no regard for the law that they were sworn to uphold.  This is an example of the few ruining it for the many.

We all come from different ethnic backgrounds.   We may differ in color.  We may differ in religious beliefs but the one thing we have in common is that we are human beings.  I hope we all soon accept that reality and act in a brotherly way.

out of workI haven’t worked since January of 2011 and I truly am thankful.  I have learned so much.  I am a workaholic by nature so it forced me to reinvent myself.  I have become a social media freak.  This truly is the way people will market and make money in the future.  Embrace it or be left behind.

I have created my own show prep site.  I have taken my late father’s passion of being an ex cop and being disgusted by police brutality and corruption and made it a web site.  I have polished my talk radio skills by establishing an internet radio show.   I have been able to spend a lot of time with my mother and she truly is an amazing human being.  I’m about to launch a new business in the next two weeks.   Things happen for a reason.

I truly was miserable in my last year of working.  I had compromised who I was and what I truly believe.  I want to make a difference.  I care about people.  I think these are turbulent times and I firmly believe that we can all learn something new each day by interacting with others.

I’m opinionated.  I know that.  I also am very open to different views  because we need to stop and listen to each other as it’s clear that no one has this “figured all out.”  Things in the past that I would dismiss I now stop and analyze.

I want this world to be a nicer place.  I want to hear “please” and “thank you.”  I want people to smile.  I think holding the door open for someone is natural.  I want to make a difference.

I’ve made mistakes and I think we all do on a daily basis.  A mistake really is an opportunity to learn and grow.  I needed to stop, listen, look around, and truly take inventory of what happens around me.  I vehemently believe that radio is a great opportunity to bond with the listener.  We are all in this together.  We all have our struggles.  We all can learn from each other.  Being caller “number nine” or hearing the latest Katy Perry song has nothing to do with this.

I used to never flinch on dropping $150 on a dinner.  Now I know when chicken breasts are on sale at my local grocery store.  I am ready for the next stage in life and my career.  I hate to say it…but I think I have finally grown up.
